Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. Many people unfamiliar with the word often think that it's an island that's to the west of Montreal however, this part of West Island is home to every aspect of Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is commonly referred to as her birthplace. However, she only resided there for a very short time. Brugel grew-up in Courtice near Oshawa the city of Ontario. Early ambitions were to become an expert dancer. However, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow her dance partners she had. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. As soon as I outgrew all my male partners then I stopped. There are many dancers who make the move into acting. For the Brugel family, it was their drama instructor who pushed her into this path. Teacher who recommended she try to find a role in school's annual play. Following a trial the role, she was chosen as the main character of Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she's appeared in 60 different productions, both on big screens and smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor in Season 1 and was only seen at times.
